Nigeria’s aviation and health authorities have intensified Ebola prevention measures at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, to guard against the importation of the virus following developments in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). FAAN, Lagos State health officials, and Port Health Services conducted a joint inspection of airport facilities, reviewed emergency response plans, and reinforced passenger screening protocols, especially for travelers arriving from high-risk countries. Officials highlighted the importance of early detection, strict monitoring, inter-agency collaboration, and adherence to international health regulations. With risk assessments completed, stakeholder responsibilities defined, and airport personnel trained, authorities say MMIA remains on high alert to protect public health and ensure rapid response to any potential threat.
