NHS INTERVIEW MASTERCLASS — DAY 1
"The First 120 Seconds"
Most internationally trained clinicians lose the NHS interview in the first two minutes.
Not because they lack skill. Not because their experience is not good enough.
Because nobody told them that "Tell us about yourself" is not an icebreaker.
It is the first scored question of the assessment.
The panel is not waiting to get to know you. They are already ticking boxes — Professional Identity, Clinical Governance awareness, alignment with NHS values. And if your answer sounds like a career timeline or a personal story, you have already dropped points before the clinical questions begin.
Here is what I teach every client I work with:
You have exactly 120 seconds. In those 120 seconds, you must do three things:
— Name your clinical identity and your specialist experience clearly — Link your international background to the NHS Long Term Plan and the Trust's strategic priorities — Use the words "clinical governance" and "patient safety" — not as buzzwords, but as evidence that you understand the framework you are entering
That is the Sovereign Elevator Pitch. And it is the difference between a panel that leans forward and a panel that politely moves on.
I have supported internationally trained nurses, physiotherapists, and doctors through NHS interview preparation — and the ones who walk in knowing exactly how to open that first answer are the ones who walk out with offers.
This week I am sharing everything. 35 posts. 7 days. Every question. Every framework. Every scoring marker the panel is using that nobody tells you about.
Day 1 starts now.
📩 If you are preparing for an NHS interview right now — DM me directly. Let us make sure your first 120 seconds close the deal, not cost you it.
If this post has given you value, like it, save it, share it, and tag a clinician who needs to see this. They will thank you for it.
Stay tuned — Post 2 drops at 9AM.
