With the worsening state of insecurity in Nigeria, it appears that the government is not treating the situation with the urgency it deserves. Citizens are living in fear, communities are under attack, and many families no longer feel safe in their own homes.

If security is truly a priority, then extraordinary measures should be taken. Let schools close temporarily, let churches and mosques move services online, and let political activities take a back seat until the safety of citizens is guaranteed.

What is the value of elections when people cannot travel freely, farm safely, or sleep peacefully in their homes? The protection of lives and property should come before politics.

The government must demonstrate decisive action against banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and all forms of criminality. Nigerians deserve to live without fear.
