In May 2026, the United States announced plans to establish a 50-bed Ebola quarantine and treatment facility at Laikipia Air Base in Kenya. The facility was intended primarily for American citizens exposed to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries, rather than bringing those individuals back to the United States. The center would be staffed by U.S. Army and Public health personnel and supported by American funding

Commendation to the People of Kenya
Kenyans deserve commendation for standing up against this move. Their resistance sends a powerful message that leadership must serve the people, not betray them. Africa's greatest challenge has never been a lack of resources or potential, but leaders who place personal and foreign interests above the welfare of their citizens.

The lesson is clear: when citizens remain vigilant and hold leaders accountable, democracy is strengthened and the future is protected. Kenya has shown that the people are not powerless and that public trust is not a blank cheque for leaders to do as they please.
