Biafra Memorial Day – May 30 Remembrance

Every May 30, we pause to remember the men, women, and children who lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War and the Biafran struggle from 1967 to 1970. Biafra Memorial Day is a solemn occasion dedicated to honoring the memories of those who suffered, sacrificed, and died during one of the darkest periods in our history.

As we remember the fallen, we also reflect on the pain endured by families who experienced displacement, hunger, and loss. Their resilience, courage, and determination remain a lasting testimony to the strength of the human spirit.

This day is not only about mourning the past but also about promoting peace, justice, unity, and understanding among all people. May the memories of those we lost continue to inspire us to build a future where such tragedies never happen again.
