Man has tried in many ways to please God but the Lord has made His requirements clear to humanity. God simply wants us to always: do want is right, He wants us to love mercy and to walk humbly with Him. In our efforts to please God, let's examine these areas regularly.
To do what is right is to observe all rules whether there's an eye watching or not.
To love mercy is to show mercy to those who have wronged us whether it's convenient or not.
To walk humbly with God is to learn humility no matter the enormity of the success.
Our ability to fulfill these requirements settles all of our societal vices.
