NCDC FLAGS 11 STATES AS HIGH-RISK FOR EBOLA

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified Lagos, Kano, the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers, Enugu, Borno, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Taraba and Adamawa states as high-risk locations for possible Ebola importation following outbreaks in parts of East and Central Africa.

The agency says Nigeria has no confirmed Ebola case linked to the current outbreak but has heightened surveillance and preparedness measures across the country. According to the NCDC, international travel, cross-border movement and similarities between Ebola symptoms and those of other infectious diseases increase the risk of undetected transmission. In response, health authorities have strengthened screening at points of entry, activated emergency response mechanisms and placed rapid response teams on standby. The NCDC is urging Nigerians to maintain proper hygiene, promptly report suspected cases and rely on verified public health information.
