Respectfully what would it take to make Nigeria truly connected and functional by rail, everywhere in the 36 states 774 LGA now real action, not a fantasy.
Fix what exists before building new ones
Audit current assets:
List all existing stations (standard + narrow gauge).
Rate each: working, needs minor repair, needs major rehab, or dead.
Use a mix of standard gauge and upgraded narrow gauge
Standard gauge (new lines):
For high‑traffic corridors: Lagos–Kano, Port Harcourt–Maiduguri, coastal line, and links to neighboring countries.
Narrow gauge rehab, not abandon no lies/no slogans
Cheaper to repair and modernize than to rebuild everything from scratch.
Use for regional and rural connections to reach more LGAs.
Why this matters respectfully if the Nigerian government current and new insist on only standard gauge in the 36 states, all the 774 LGAs will never see trains in our lifetime—too expensive.
