Occupational therapists are in shortage. Radiographers are in shortage. Speech and language therapists are in shortage.
The NHS knows this. The Home Office knows this. And yet most internationally registered OTs, radiographers, and SLTs in the UK are applying for roles as if they are competing in a balanced market.
You are not competing in a balanced market. You are operating in a seller's market for your skills — and your applications are not reflecting that.
Occupational therapists, diagnostic radiographers, therapeutic radiographers, and speech and language therapists all appear on the eligible occupations list for the Health and Care Worker Visa — in both NHS and CQC-registered private settings.
What this means practically is that employers in these specialties are actively seeking registered candidates, are willing to sponsor, and are operating in clinical areas where domestic recruitment alone cannot meet demand.
The AHPs who are waiting for the right opportunity to appear are misreading the market.
The right opportunity requires the right positioning — a CV that speaks NHS clinical governance language, a personal statement that addresses person specification criteria directly, and an application strategy that targets organizations with active CoS capacity rather than simply responding to NHS Jobs listings.
Your HCPC registration is your market entry credential.
Your application package is your pitch.
The market is ready. Your pitch needs to match it.
💬 Are you a registered OT, radiographer, or SLT in the UK?
