NNEKA’S DIARY III

Back to my story with Kunle: was I in love? What was this feeling? If there is one thing I detest with so much passion, it is a married man flirting with a single lady. Any man who does that doesn't love his wife and wishes her death. Could that be why Kunle's wife died? "Nneka, stop!" I heard myself saying as I gathered my things to head home. I called a taxi since I wasn't in the mood to hop from one vehicle to another.

On getting home, Grace opened the door and immediately asked if everything was okay with me. I told her I was okay but would gist her after I had bathed and eaten because I was famished.

She immediately arranged my bathing water and food. I nicknamed her "Itchy Ear" 🤣 because once you tell her about a gist, she will drag you until you give her the full story. When I was done eating, she came for the gist. I was exhausted but had to get it over with for my peace of mind.

Immediately I finished, Grace started dancing around, singing "Love Nwantinti, love Nwantinti." I was surprised at her reaction. "Grace, someone lost a wife and you are singing 'Love Nwantinti'?" I said. "Na me and you kill the wife?" she responded. "See, Sis, you have isolated yourself from men all these years because of Henry. Not every man is Henry. I'm sure that's why you don't even listen to Henry in your office, not to talk of giving him a chance."

"Grace, you must be kidding me right now. A married man flirted with me at a party, and you see him as a potential suitor? Besides, who even told you he's interested in me, or me in him? Stop dreaming, please."

"I could be dreaming, but dreams come through. Besides, after Henry's betrayal, you've not given any guy a second thought. Now you want to go for a burial to get clarity, and you want me not to celebrate?"

That statement got me thinking. Why was I going to the burial of a man's wife whom I had met once at a party — a man who probably had a little too much to drink and might not even remember ever seeing me? "Nneka, who do you think you are? Hmm." I honestly didn't know why I should attend the burial. "Lord, let something discourage me from going if I will regret it," I said silently.

That night, I dreamt that I went for a function. The crowd was much, but Kunle walked across the crowd towards me, gave me a hug and a peck. I woke up and checked the time. It was 12:15 am. I sat on the bed and wondered about the dream. Was the dream telling me something, or did it have something to do with the fact that we had talked about him until late? I guessed so. I couldn't sleep until 1:30 am. That was when I decided to go into serious prayers. After all, tomorrow was Saturday and no work. I prayed for about forty minutes and dozed off.

Fast-forward to Monday at work. As I was climbing the stairs, I heard a tiny female voice behind me: "Good morning, Nneka." I turned. It was Priscilla smiling unusually hard. I responded with a smile as well. She said, "Hubby asked after you last night and asked me if you would wish to go for Angela's burial. I told him I would ask you. I didn't want him to know we'd already discussed it."

I asked, "Why would he want me to go?" She replied, "He wasn't specific, but I guess it's for the same reason — Kunle needing a friend right now."

"Hmmm, let's see how it goes," I said.

NNEKA’S DIARY IV drops tomorrow by 12 noon.

Being Ready And Stable (BRAS): NNEKA’S DIARY IV drops tomorrow 12 noon.
Gladden Ngozi: When curiosity, confusion, and small crush decide to work together 😅😂. NNEKA’S DIARY continues at @brashub ..
Comfort Yako Asala: I can see your emotions are taking shape towards a definite point. It began with Infatuation, confusion and now deliberations tilting towards love and peck dreams 🤔.
What emotions can do ehnn, can never be underestimated 😂
Interesting read as always Dear 💝
Like minds🫂: Maybe Kunle needs friends around him?
If she attends that burial then she's the worst woman ever. She should allow the late wife to at least rest small before going in to replace her.
Mild Uchenna: At this point, Nneka is no longer fighting Kunle, she's fighting her own emotions, curiosity, loneliness, past hurts, and imagination all at once.

And honestly, Grace is that one sibling every family needs She may joke too much, but she's asking the exact questions Nneka is trying to avoid answerin...
Rejoice Osunwoke: Nneka’s conflict feels deeper than attraction. She unconsciously portrays the tension between her values, unresolved pain from past betrayal, and the emotional curiosity Kunle unexpectedly awakens in her.

Let's see what happens next.
POULTRY AND FISHERY: My take is on Henry.
We can see that a particular Henry treated her bad and she still has PTSD about it. Now another Henry's sin is affecting another Henry in the office. Chai only if Henry in the office would know that he is not the problem because I know he must be feeling that he is not good eno...
