MARKET UPDATES FOR TODAY: May 27, 2026

📊 US markets ended mixed during regular trading hours on Tuesday. The S&P 500 climbed 0.5%, while the Nasdaq gained 0.9% as strong buying continued in AI and semiconductor stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.3%.

🚀 Semiconductor stocks led the rally again. Micron Technology surged sharply after receiving a bullish analyst upgrade, helping push the broader Philadelphia Semiconductor Index to a fresh all-time high. The strong move also helped Micron briefly reach a $1 trillion market capitalization for the first time ever.

⚠️ Investor sentiment became more cautious after reports of fresh US military strikes on Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The situation raised concerns that ongoing peace talks between Washington and Tehran could break down, increasing fears of wider instability in the region.

🤖 Despite geopolitical risks, enthusiasm around AI-driven earnings growth continues to support the broader stock market. Investors are still focusing heavily on companies linked to artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and data center expansion.
