What is even more painful is the silence from many people who should have spoken loudly by now.
The wives of leaders who should stand as mothers of the nation have remained quiet while real mothers cry day and night for their missing children.
Many governors’ wives and public figures continue attending celebrations and public events while families are drowning in fear and uncertainty.

Imagine a mother hearing Children’s Day songs today while her own child is trapped somewhere in fear.
Imagine children sleeping hungry, terrified and traumatized inside forests while politicians stand on decorated stages smiling and waving at crowds.

Nigeria is cold, bleeding and burning.

A nation that cannot protect its children is losing its soul.
Children are not political statistics.
They are human beings.
They are dreams.
They are the future of this country.

This is not the time for silence.
This is not the time to pretend everything is normal.
This is the time for humanity.
This is the time for leaders to act with urgency, empathy and conscience.

History will not only remember who won elections or celebrated political victories.
History will remember whether Nigeria stood up when innocent children cried for help.

May the tears of these mothers never be ignored.
May the voices of these innocent children shake the conscience of this nation.
And may Nigeria someday become a country where every child can truly celebrate Children’s Day in peace, safety and freedom.
