Part 1

“Miserable Children’s Day.”
Those words are painful, but sadly they reflect the reality of Nigeria today.

While children across the world are celebrating with joy, songs and laughter, many Nigerian children are missing in Oyo State and other parts of the country.
Some are only 18 months old.
Some are 2 years old and upward.
Children who should be in the safety of their parents’ arms are now inside forests where terrorists and kidnappers are dealing with them mercilessly.

Kidnappers are getting richer by the day because innocent lives have become a business.
Children are tortured while criminals continue collecting huge ransom payments.
And the most heartbreaking part is that the nation seems to be moving on like nothing happened.

Our leaders are busy campaigning for re-election.
Some are celebrating party primary victories.
Others are delivering speeches for Ileya celebrations.
But where is the national outrage for the innocent children in captivity?
Where is the urgency?
Where is the compassion?

Citizens are carrying on like we are not already fighting a battle for our lives.
Nigeria is gradually becoming a nation where pain is normalized and tragedy no longer shocks the conscience of those in power.
