Greetings Mr. Arnold, we hope you are well. 240 million Nigerians are writing to you because your past comments about Nigerian political leadership, especially your warnings regarding extremist ties, corruption, and governance risks, continue to resonate with 240 million Nigerians who are deeply concerned about the direction of the country.

You have publicly stated that Peter Obi is the only major political figure without a known criminal record. While this remains true, Nigerians also understand that human beings can change once they enter power. History has shown that even leaders who begin with clean reputations can become authoritarian or disconnected from the people if they are not held accountable.

You also raised serious concerns about Rabiu Kwankwaso, including allegations of extremist associations, corruption, and loyalty to entrenched political structures. Many Nigerians believe that while he may operate freely within Nigeria’s political system, he would face significant legal and diplomatic challenges in the United States, the United Kingdom, and many other countries. These concerns are widely discussed among Nigerians who want a leader capable of engaging globally without legal restrictions.

At the same time, Nigerians are frustrated that despite widespread public support, Peter Obi has not worked closely with the 36 state governors and 774 local government areas to address the root causes of insecurity. Since 1999, Nigerians have endured killings, terrorism, and instability. 240 million Nigerians expect any serious national figure to collaborate with state and local leaders to stop the violence and fix the root causes now, regardless of political differences.

Instead, many feel that too much time has been spent on media appearances, foreign trips, and symbolic gestures that do not address the urgent security crisis at home. No country is perfect, but Nigeria’s institutions — the courts, EFCC, military, police, DSS, and Air Force — must confront corruption and impunity if Nigeria is to move forward.

There is also growing anger about the continued use of manual vote counting in a country of over 240 million Nigerian. Nigerians want to know what happened to the funds allocated to INEC for real-time electronic transmission of results. Promises of improved electricity, digital access, and transparency have not been fulfilled.

Respectfully Mr. Peter Obi still has an opportunity to show 240 million Nigerians that he can be trusted. If he is serious about leadership, he must begin working with governors and local governments now 5/27/2026 — not later in 2027 — to address insecurity and rebuild public confidence. If he cannot demonstrate this commitment in 2026, many believe he will not be able to stop the killings in 2027 or beyond. This is a humble request.

Thank you sir former U.S. mayor Mike Arnold for your continued attention to Nigeria’s political and security challenges. Your voice carries weight internationally, and many Nigerians appreciate your willingness to speak openly about issues others avoid.
