The news coming out of Ogbomosho, Oyo State, has left a deep pain in my heart. According to reports, more than thirty innocent children and seven teachers were reportedly kidnapped from schools in the Oriire axis, turning what should have been a place of learning and safety into a scene of fear and tears. Schools are meant to build dreams, shape futures, and protect innocence, not become locations where childhood itself is stolen. The thought that parents kissed their children goodbye for school and are now sleeping with uncertainty and tears is heartbreaking.

Today is Children's Day, my heart feels heavier because while children across Nigeria and the rest of the world will celebrate with laughter, dancing, gifts, and beautiful memories, these innocent children will spend this day in captivity, surrounded by fear instead of joy. Children should be holding crayons, books, toys, and dreams — not carrying the trauma and confusion of an experience no child should ever endure. I cannot imagine the pain in the hearts of their parents, families, teachers, and loved ones who are counting every minute and praying for their safe return.

This is a moment that demands urgency, not silence. The government and security agencies must act swiftly and decisively to rescue these children and teachers. Every passing hour matters. This cannot become another story that fades from headlines while families continue to suffer in agony. Nigeria owes its children safety. We owe them protection. We owe them a future where going to school does not become a risk to life itself.

My thoughts and prayers remain with every family waiting for their loved ones to come back home safely.
