Your Excellencies, Esteemed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, World Bank Leadership, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, 240 million Nigerian are writing to express deep concern about the ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s energy sector, governance, and economic direction. These issues continue to affect millions of Nigerians who remain in poverty and darkness despite the country’s abundant natural resources.

While we acknowledge the World Bank’s role in supporting development, many Nigerians are troubled by the continued approval of loans without visible improvements in electricity, fuel affordability, or living conditions. Nigeria remains rich in oil and gas, yet citizens face high fuel prices and unreliable power supply.

Respectfully we also recognize that allowing only one major private refinery to control fuel pricing is not healthy for competition or national stability. Nigeria needs multiple strong companies operating transparently in the sector. However, the deeper issue is the long-standing mismanagement and corruption that have plagued the NNPC and the refinery system for decades. This has contributed significantly to the closure of all government-owned refineries and the persistent hardship faced by 240 million Nigerians

If the Nigerian government is truly committed to reform, then accountability must be enforced. The courts and the EFCC should recover stolen public funds, prosecute those responsible, and ensure that assets and passports are seized where appropriate. Recovered funds should be reinvested into reviving Nigeria’s refineries and strengthening the energy sector.

Additionally, transparency is needed regarding the employment impact of private-sector investments. Nigerians deserve clear data on how many Nigerians have been hired by major companies such as the Dangote Group and how these investments are contributing to national development.

Nigeria has the potential to thrive, but only if corruption is addressed decisively and institutions operate with integrity. We urge all parties addressed in this letter to take these concerns seriously and act in the best interest of the 240 million Nigerian people.
