The race for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket gathered momentum as Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen battled for support across Nigeria’s 8,809 wards. Early results placed Atiku in a commanding position, with strong performances in states including Yobe and Sokoto where he recorded overwhelming vote margins over his challengers.

ADC said over three million digitally registered voters would determine the party’s presidential candidate, while INEC officials monitored the process nationwide. Amaechi, however, insisted he would only accept the outcome if the process remained transparent, warning that any perceived irregularities could trigger disputes.

Beyond the primary contest, ADC also launched a strong attack on President Bola Tinubu, accusing the administration of worsening economic hardship and questioning figures from the APC presidential primary process.
