Pope Leo is sounding the alarm on AI in the first major encyclical of his papacy — warning the technology risks creating a new “Tower of Babel” if it’s left unchecked.
The Pope called for strict ethical limits on AI, especially in warfare, and warned against a future where human dignity is sacrificed for profit, power, or automation.
He also pushed back on the idea that a small group of tech elites should shape humanity’s future alone.
