I saw Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, on Arise TV, at the APC primaries in Bendel Local Government Area of Abia State, where he served as the returning officer for the party in the State.

What played out during the primaries was disappointing. The figures reportedly moved from 1,000 to 7,000, raising serious concerns about transparency and credibility in the counting process. Incidents like this help explain why many Nigerians have lost confidence in our electoral system and governance.

Public officials who supervise elections are expected to uphold integrity and fairness. When questionable results are endorsed without scrutiny, it damages public trust and weakens democracy.

If this is a sign of what to expect ahead of 2027, then Nigerians have every reason to be concerned.
