Greetings Honorable Minister Dele Alake,240 million Nigerians are
writing to you regarding the recently announced Memorandum of Understanding between Nigeria and the Republic of Türkiye on cooperation in the solid minerals sector. While the agreement has been presented as a major step forward, many Nigerians are deeply concerned that this may become yet another promise that fades after elections with all due respect sir.
240 million Nigerians are asking for clarity, transparency, and concrete timelines. Specifically, we need to know when implementation will begin and what measurable outcomes Nigerians should expect. The public wants assurance that this MoU will not follow the pattern of past agreements that never translated into real opportunities.
A major concern is employment. Nigerians want to know when large-scale training and job creation will begin. With over 240 million youths and graduates, many of them youths and graduates, the expectation is that Türkiye’s involvement should include substantial skills development and hands-on training—not just paperwork or online processes. Nigerians are calling for a simple, accessible system that relies only on valid Nigerian identification or passport, rather than complicated online applications or interviews that often exclude those who need opportunities the most.
Beyond employment, Nigerians continue to face insecurity, especially in regions affected by insurgency. Investors will remain hesitant until the root causes of boko haram and other security challenges are addressed. Families want their children to go to school and return home safely. Farmers want to work their land without fear. Food security and national stability depend on this.
Additionally, 240 million Nigerians are still waiting for long-promised improvements in basic infrastructure. Free electricity and reliable internet access were commitments made decades ago. These remain essential for economic growth, education, and national development.
Respectfully we urge your office to provide:
A clear start date for implementation of the Nigeria–Türkiye partnership
A transparent plan for nationwide training and employment
A simplified, accessible registration process for all Nigerians
Concrete steps being taken to address insecurity and protect citizens
Daily updates on progress toward providing stable electricity and affordable internet on the LekeeLekee app
Nigerians want progress, not slogans. We want action, not announcements. We demand your office will address these concerns directly and provide the clarity the nation urgently needs.
