She’s finally free.
After two weeks in the hands of kidnappers, she’s out.

It started with a call this morning. My phone buzzed at dawn, and a voice came through, trembling with relief. “Thank you,” they said. “Thank you for what you did for her and her family.”

The voice sounded familiar. Like someone I knew. But I couldn’t place it.

Then it hit me — it was my friend. The same friend who called me two weeks ago, panicking, saying she’d been taken. They’d demanded a ransom. We pooled what we could.

And it worked.

The kidnappers let her go. She’s in the hospital now, safe. Weak, but alive. And holding her newborn baby, born last night while she was still in captivity.

Two lives saved. One impossible night.

She’s free. And that’s the good news that I want to share.
