IF YOU ARE A REGISTERED NURSE WORKING IN A CARE HOME — READ THIS!

You trained for three to five years to become a nurse. You passed your exams. You worked in a hospital.

You came to the UK with everything — and somehow ended up in a care home.

This post is specifically for you.

I need you to understand something clearly this morning.

Working in a care home as a registered nurse from your home country does not make you a care worker.

It makes you a registered nurse who is currently working in a care home — and that distinction changes your switch pathway completely.

If you hold a nursing qualification from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, India, Cameroon, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, or anywhere else — and that qualification is equivalent to a UK degree-level nursing programme — you are not a care worker trying to become a nurse.

You are already a nurse who needs her registration recognized.

The NMC pathway exists for exactly this. And once your NMC Decision Letter is in hand, your Band 5 NHS switch is not a hope. It is a process.

Your in-country position — already in the UK, already working, already DBS-checked and references ready — makes you a more attractive hire for an NHS Trust than an overseas candidate by a measurable margin.

You are not behind. You are positioned. You just need the right next step.
