.... They are "underpaid patriots" in a country that worships clout over competence. This isn't market forces at work; this is a perverted value system where the village idiot turned influencer out-earns the village's best mind.
The sarcasm writes itself: Nigeria has successfully monetized stupidity. While Asian tigers produce engineers and scientists who power global innovation, Nigerian youths are busy perfecting "waist and bust" content or shouting "God abeg" for likes. Real knowledge and skills are declining precisely because they demand effort in a society that rewards the path of least resistance. Why study engineering when you can "create content" reviewing other people's content? Why pursue medicine when BBN housemates become brand ambassadors overnight?
The youth have observed their parents—teachers, lecturers, civil servants—struggling despite qualifications, and drawn the logical conclusion: intelligence is for losers. The result is a generation producing more influencers per capita than functional professionals, a demographic time bomb wrapped in designer knockoffs and rented Lamborghinis.
