Benue Debt: Alia Receives Over 700% FAAC Allocation Increase Compared to Ortom – Akase
President Tinubu’s reforms, including the removal of the subsidy, have increased Benue State’s allocation from about ₦4 billion under former Governor Samuel Ortom to over ₦20 billion under Gov. Alia. Despite Nigeria entering recession twice, Gov. Ortom paid salaries for 91 out of 98 months, notwithstanding a ₦160 billion debt he inherited. Gov. Alia has not been transparent about how much the state receives. Today, local government workers in Benue are on strike.
