AN URGENT APPEAL TO HIS EXCELLENCY, PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR: RETAIN AIR MARSHAL SADIQUE BABA ABUBAKAR (RTD) FOR NATIONAL SERVICE

I received the news of the formal retirement from active politics by the former Chief of Air Staff and Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Chad, His Excellency, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (Rtd), with profound disbelief and concern.

As a retired officer, I know first-hand that Nigeria cannot afford to lose a leader of his extraordinary calibre at this critical juncture in our national journey.

Air Marshal SB Abubakar rtd embodies a legacy of excellence and unprecedented achievements.

He stands out as arguably one of the most impactful Chiefs of Air Staff in the history of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). His visionary leadership remains unimaginable.

As Chief of the Air Staff, he transformed the service through an unyielding commitment to institutional growth, famously operating on the mantra that "there is no finishing line in adding value." He carried out his duties with flawless integrity. His career is defined by honor, deep professionalism, and an unblemished record of execution.

Like many others, including serving and retired military personnel as well as civilians, I look at the former ambassador with the lens of an indispensable asset to the nation, an untapped capacity.

Leaders with his proven track record of strategic command and diplomatic experience are rare assets who should be utilized to their full potential. Many other countries would have definitely recognise his energy and relevance. He remains energetic, intellectually capable, and deeply committed to the progress of our nation.

Where others would encounter bureaucratic roadblocks, Air Marshal Abubakar has a solution - a go-gether, he would find a way out to provide solutions, delivering tangible results.

My Appeal to Mr. President:

I respectfully appeal to Your Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to look beyond political retirement and recall this exceptional patriot to national service. Securing a strategic appointment for Air Marshal Abubakar within this administration will inject invaluable competence, resourcefulness, and battle-tested patriotism into your team.

Mr. President, please bring Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (rtd) back to the forefront of your administration and governance. He still has a lot to align with your administration and positively contribute in building a secure and prosperous Nigeria we all believe in.
