THE BIRTH OF A FIRE: THE #YASUKEPROJECT

When we began the #YasukeProject, we did not seek controversy. We sought truth.
But truth, especially truth that challenges comfortable silences, always draws blood.
From the moment we dared to shine light on the life of Yasuke, the African warrior who rose from chains to stand as nobility at the right hand of Japan’s most revolutionary warlord, we were met with ferocious resistance. Some Japanese voices, loud and unrelenting, attacked us. They mocked the very idea. They questioned his existence. They dismissed his service. They told us, with dripping contempt, to “go write a book if you really believe it.”
We accepted their challenge.
Not with anger, but with fire in our bones.
We accepted it for every African child who has been told their ancestors only appear in history as victims. We accepted it for Yasuke himself, the man stolen from Mozambique, betrayed by his own, purchased by the Church, yet recognized as a warrior by a pagan ruler who saw his worth when so many others saw only his skin. We accepted it because a single life, improbably lived, carries the power to rewrite narratives that have kept us small for centuries.

So we went to work only to discover that the same Church that once owned him quietly tried to bury his story beneath a water-stained ledger and the words “for the black man’s journey…”
We rebuilt his isotopic passport. We measured his bones through forensic anthropology. We studied Nobunaga’s radical meritocracy and the circle of retainers who stood beside this towering African. We faced every doubt, every dismissal, every attempt to reduce him to myth or footnote.

This book holds our answer to that challenge.
It is not perfect. It is provisional. It is built from fragments, probabilities, and informed imagination. But it is honest. It is thorough. It is soaked in the blood, sweat, fire, and loyalty of one extraordinary life.

Today, we stand at the threshold. The research is done. The manuscript is complete. But a story this important deserves to reach the world with power and clarity. We are now seeking serious collaboration, editors, publishers, scholars, visionaries, who understand that this is not merely a historical project.

This is a resurrection.
This is a declaration that Africa has always produced giants. That our story did not begin in chains. That excellence has no geography. That even when the world conspires to erase you, character can still carve your name into history.

To those who attacked us: thank you.
Your challenge became our fuel.
To Yasuke: your silence ends here.

And to every African reading these words especially the young ones who are told they came from nothing, let this book be your proof:
If one man, stolen from our soil, could rise to nobility against every betrayal the world could throw at him, then we have no excuse to remain small.

We accepted the challenge.
We carried out the research.
Now we invite you to help us finish what we started.

It is only beginning.
Let us tell this story with the fire it deserves.
He was real.
He fought.
He rose.
And no one will bury him again.
