The three-month rule is the one condition between you and your NHS switch — and most care workers have already met it without knowing it counts.
To switch from your current care worker visa to another eligible route, you must have been legally employed by your current sponsor for at least three months before your Certificate of Sponsorship is issued.
That is it. Three months of documented, legal employment with your current sponsor. If you have been working for the same care organisation for three months or more — you are already eligible to begin the switch process.
Not eligible to complete it automatically. Eligible to begin it.
The switch still requires a qualifying job offer in an eligible role, a salary that meets the relevant threshold, and a Certificate of Sponsorship from your new employer.
But the three-month employment condition — which is the gate most people do not know exists — is one you may have quietly passed months ago.
Check your employment start date. Count the months. If you are past three months with your current sponsor, the first condition is already met.
What comes next is where the work begins — and where most people either position themselves correctly or waste the transition window on applications that were never going to convert.
This week I will show you the difference.
