18-year-old Chinese sensation Yan Ziyi landed a throw of 71.74m, the second-best in women's javelin history, to take victory at the Wanda Diamond League 2026 athletics meeting in Xiamen.

Yan’s opening throw, which was greeted by loud cheers from her home fans at Egret Stadium just a day after her 18th birthday, also established new Diamond League and world Under-20 records.

"I was more than thrilled to see the result, which I've been looking forward to for so long," said Yan. "I finally made it."
