Your Excellencies, Esteemed President Tinubu, Leaders of Opposition Parties, Independent Candidates, and the Leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern about the current approach to public communication regarding security operations, particularly the practice of publishing photographs of rescued Nigerians online. While the intention may be to demonstrate progress, this practice unintentionally exposes survivors to further trauma, stigma, and potential security risks.

Nigeria continues to face serious threats from boko haram and other violent extremist groups, which have caused immense suffering and loss of Nigerian life`s for decades. It is critical that our national communication strategy prioritizes the dignity and safety of Nigerians. Instead of circulating images of rescued Nigerians, the focus should be on identifying, exposing, and prosecuting perpetrators. Publishing the names and faces of wanted terrorists globally USA, UK 195 countries already have these photo waiting on Nigerian government to do the needful if they are serious—within the bounds of due process—can strengthen public awareness and cooperation.

Additionally, Nigeria urgently needs a modern, technology-driven security infrastructure. Installing CCTV systems across all 36 states and 774 local government areas would not only create jobs but also empower over 240 million Nigerians to report crimes safely and efficiently from their mobile phones. A transparent, technology-enabled security environment would help restore public confidence, encourage 240 million Nigerians to return to farming, improve food security, and create conditions where children can attend school without fear now 5/23/2026

A safer Nigeria will naturally attract investors. There is no need to persuade the world with words—investors will see stability for themselves when the root causes of insecurity are addressed. boko haram’s activities are symptoms of deeper structural issues that require unified, nonpartisan action. No single president or political party can solve this challenge alone. It demands collaboration across political lines, shared responsibility, and a commitment to long-term solutions.

Respectfully we urge all political leaders—regardless of affiliation—to work together to address the underlying drivers of violent extremism and to adopt communication practices that protect Nigerians rather than expose them. Nigeria’s future depends on decisive, coordinated, and compassionate leadership.

Thank you for your attention to these urgent concerns.
