If the continent of Africa had never been colonized by European powers, the modern world would likely look dramatically different — politically, economically, culturally, technologically, and even geopolitically. But it’s important to remember that Africa was never “empty” or “undeveloped” before colonization. It already had large empires, trade systems, universities, engineering traditions, and global connections.
