Your Excellencies, Esteemed President Tinubu, Leaders of Opposition Parties, Independent Candidates, and the Nigerian Judiciary and Courts accountability, public safety, and the fundamental rights of over 240 million Nigerians

Recent reports and videos circulating online show Nigerian police officers threatening Nigeraisn who record them during their duties. This is deeply troubling. In a democratic society, law enforcement officers serve 240 million Nigerians, and transparency is essential for trust.

Freedom of speech is a human right. Nigerians have the right to document police interactions, especially when misconduct, brutality, or corruption is suspected. If any police officer, military, Airforce, dss, efcc feels threatened by being recorded while performing public duties, that raises questions about their conduct.

To strengthen accountability and rebuild trust, we urge the following:

Install CCTV cameras across all 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas now 5/21/2026

Ensure that police, military, DSS, EFCC, and other security agencies operate transparently with worn body cameras in the 36 states 774 LGA

Protect 240 million Nigerians who record officers during public duties.

Enforce strict consequences for officers who intimidate or harm Nigerians for exercising their rights.

Nigerians pay the salaries of all security agencies. They work for the Nigerians. Any officer unwilling to operate transparently should not serve in public security roles.

A safer Nigeria requires accountability, openness, and respect for human rights.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
