There are two thousand scriptural texts talking about giving to the poor. Giving to the poor is mentioned more than two thousand times in the bible. Tithing is only mentioned 14 times. The bible even says in the book of Deuteronomy that whoever gives to the poor, lends to God. Let us study our bibles well. With all this prosperity messages, Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world, which includes the church, because the church is part of the Nigerian society. The material prosperity often heads in one direction in most of our churches; the pastors and general overseers! Corruption exists not only in political circles, but in the church as well!
