One of the things I learnt very early as a young man is never to outshine my boss. If your boss already knows the answer to a particular question and still asks you publicly, sometimes wisdom is knowing when to give the stage back to him or her to speak. The same principle applies to decision-making as a follower. No matter how highly placed your position is, if someone helped you rise to that office, always learn to defer appropriately when matters concerning that office arise.
