Your Excellencies, Esteemed Nigerian government, Leaders of Nigeria's Opposition Parties, independent candidates 240 million Nigerians are writing to express a strong concern regarding the recent reports of West African deportees being returned from the United States, including the news that Sierra Leone has already received a first group of deportees. 240 million Nigerians position is clear respectfully that Nigeria must not accept any deportees from the United States, the United Kingdom, or any other 195 countries.

Nigeria is already facing immense internal challenges. With a population of over 240 million Nigerians, the country continues to struggle with insecurity, including ongoing violence attributed to boko haram and other armed groups. Many Nigerians have lost their lives over the years, and millions more face unemployment, poverty, and lack of opportunities.

Given these realities, accepting deportees from foreign nations would only add to the existing burden. Those who have lived in the United States should be rehabilitated within the United States. The same applies to deportees from the UK or any of the nearly 195 countries worldwide. Rehabilitation should occur in the country where individuals have lived, worked, or sought refuge, rather than shifting the responsibility onto Nigeria.

Nigeria must prioritize the safety, stability, and economic well-being of its own citizens. Therefore, we urge you to advocate firmly that the Nigerian government reject any forced return of deportees from the US or other nations. Our national resources are already stretched, and our focus must remain on addressing domestic issues and protecting the welfare of 240 million Nigerians.
