British-Nigerian actress and singer Cynthia Erivo has officially been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire, MBE, in recognition of her outstanding services to music and drama.

She received the honour during a ceremony at Windsor Castle on May 19, where she was formally decorated by Prince William.
Originally named on King Charles’ New Year Honours list in 2025, Erivo described the moment as unforgettable.

The royal distinction highlights a heavily decorated career. Erivo is among an elite group of performers to earn EGOT nominations. She has won a Tony, a Grammy, and an Emmy, needing only an Oscar to complete the elusive EGOT title.
