Your Excellencies, Esteemed President Tinubu, Leaders, Opposition Parties, Independent Candidates, Civil Society, EFCC, and Members of the Courts and Judiciary, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express a clear and urgent message about the importance of accountability in Nigeria, especially regarding the misuse of public funds. When taxpayer money meant to address the root causes of insecurity, including the violence inflicted by boko haram, is stolen, the consequences are devastating for all 240 million Nigerians.

Public funds are intended to create jobs for more than 240 million Nigerians, build hospitals and provide free or affordable healthcare, improve housing and education, repair dangerous roads, and invest in agriculture so that Nigeria can become food‑secure. When these resources are diverted for personal gain, the nation suffers, and the cycle of poverty and insecurity deepens.

Any public official who steals from Nigerians must face justice. When the EFCC, the courts, or political leaders fail to act because of party loyalty or personal connections, it sends a dangerous message that corruption is acceptable. No nation can progress under such conditions.

If domestic institutions fail to uphold justice, the international community — including the United States, the United Kingdom, and other 195 countries — will inevitably take notice. Corrupt officials risk global exposure, sanctions, and the inability to hide in any of the 195 countries around the world. No one who steals from the Nigerian people should expect to escape accountability respectfully.

Nigeria deserves leaders who protect public resources, strengthen institutions, and prioritize the well‑being of Nigerians over personal interests. The world is watching, and Nigerians are demanding better.
