It's ironic and concerning: many Nigerians who identify as Christians understand that God detests corruption and crime, yet they pray for success before committing wrongdoing. They plead for help when caught and give thanks if they escape unscathed. Do we really think we can outsmart God? Those who kidnap, steal, defraud others, blackmail, or bear false witness—among many crimes—are all involved. We have created God in our own image.
