A Department of State Services (DSS) witness has told a Federal High Court that National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu confirmed having the conversation referenced by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in a controversial television interview. El-Rufai is standing trial for alleged breach of national security over claims he made about an intercepted communication involving the NSA.
The witness said investigators also obtained confirmations from ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu after portions of the interview were played to him. The court viewed a 43-minute Arise News interview in which El-Rufai reportedly said the NSA’s conversation was intercepted and passed to him, though he argued such monitoring is routine in government.
Under cross-examination, the DSS witness admitted no forensic analysis was conducted on communication devices or IP data, saying Ribadu’s confirmation was considered sufficient. The case was adjourned to June 22 and 23 for continuation of trial.
