NATIONAL ADDRESS TO NIGERIANS ON THE TRAGEDY IN OGBOMOSO, INSECURITY, AND THE HOPE OF A NEW NIGERIA

My dear brothers and sisters of Nigeria,
Today, I speak not only as a presidential hopeful. I speak as a father, a brother, a son of the soil, and a fellow Nigerian whose heart is heavy.
The tragic reports coming from Ogbomoso — the killing, the kidnapping of teachers and students, and the continuous bloodshed in our nation — have once again reminded us of a painful truth: Nigeria is bleeding.
A nation where children leave home for school and parents are not certain they will return safely is a nation in distress.
A nation where teachers — those shaping our future — become victims instead of being protected is a nation whose priorities have been broken.
And today, I ask a difficult question:
How did we get here?
Government's first responsibility is simple: protect lives and property.
Not politics.
Not propaganda.
Not endless promises.
Protecting the people is the first covenant between leaders and citizens.
Yet Nigerians wake up daily to fear.
Farmers are afraid to go to farms.
Students are afraid to go to schools.
Travelers fear our roads.
Communities sleep with one eye open.
And while ordinary Nigerians mourn, too many leaders continue as if nothing has happened.
This is not normal.
This should never be accepted as normal.
To the families of those lost in Ogbomoso, to the parents whose children are missing, to every Nigerian carrying pain in silence — I hear your cry.
Nigeria hears your cry.
And we mourn with you.
To the teachers and students kidnapped, wherever you are, know this: you are not forgotten.
You are not statistics.
You are not headlines.
You are our future.
You are our children.
And a nation that abandons its children abandons itself.
But my fellow Nigerians, I did not come here only to mourn.
I came with a message.
A message of hope.
A message for every struggling mother.
For every frightened father.
For every youth who feels this country has failed them.
For every Nigerian who has almost given up.
HELP IS ON THE WAY.
Yes, help is on the way.
Because darkness does not last forever.
Because no suffering lasts forever.
Because nations can rise again.
Nigeria can rise again.
We must build a Nigeria where schools become places of learning again—not places of fear.
A Nigeria where our security agencies are equipped, motivated, trained, and supported.
A Nigeria where intelligence works before tragedy happens.
A Nigeria where leadership values human life above politics.
We need a new path.
A new leadership.
A new direction.
Not recycled failures.
Not old politics wearing new clothes.
We need courage.
We need vision.
We need people-first leadership.
To Nigerian youths: your anger is understood.
To our mothers: your tears are seen.
To our fathers: your frustrations are heard.
Do not surrender your hope.
Do not surrender your country.
Because the Nigeria we dream about is possible.
A safer Nigeria is possible.
A stronger Nigeria is possible.
A new Nigeria is possible.
And together:
Yes we can.
And yes we will.
May God protect our people.
May God bring back those kidnapped safely.
And may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
