Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Delta North ahead of the 2027 general elections after a decisive primary victory over businessman Ned Nwoko.

Okowa dominated the contest with 113,309 votes, while Nwoko polled 2,612 votes in a widely followed intra-party exercise. The result marks a significant political comeback for the former governor, positioning him as APC’s flagbearer for the senatorial district in the next general election.

His emergence is expected to reshape the political dynamics in Delta North as the party prepares for a competitive 2027 race, with stakeholders already watching how the contest will unfold in the coming months.
