Your Excellencies Esteemed Leaders of the APC, Opposition Parties, and Independent Candidates, 240 million Nigerians are writing out of deep concern and disappointment over the Nigerian who was allegedly struck by a bullet fired by security operatives attempting to disperse protesting youths gathered at the venue during the APC primary election in Kasuwan Ali, Mangu LGA, Plateau State. Multiple independent news reports confirm that he was hit amid unrest caused by delays, confusion, and the use of live ammunition by security operatives. This incident is heartbreaking, unacceptable, and a stain on our democratic process.
Respectfully if our leaders cannot conduct a simple party primary peacefully, without bloodshed, what should Nigerians expect in the 2027 general elections? When political actors fight over money, influence, and control of public resources, it sends a clear message that the welfare of 240 million Nigerians is secondary. The global community is watching for decades, and Nigeria is increasingly being viewed as a nation whose leaders cannot manage even the most basic democratic procedures.
Security agencies exist to maintain peace, not escalate violence. Whoever fired the shot to this Nigerian must be identified, investigated, and prosecuted. Their photograph and identity should be made public, and justice must be served. Anything less sends a message that Nigerian lives are disposable.
Instead of addressing the root causes of insecurity, including the long-standing threat of boko haram—an extremist group responsible for severe harm and human rights violations for decades—our leaders are presiding over primaries that end in chaos. This is not the conduct of a serious government or political class with all due respect
Respectfully the judiciary must also stop standing by silently. Courts should intervene swiftly in cases like this to uphold justice, protect 240 million Nigerians, and reinforce the rule of law. This is a humble request
Nigeria deserves leaders who value 240 million Nigerian life's, uphold democratic principles, and demonstrate accountability. This tragedy must not be swept aside. It must be a turning point.
