Your Excellencies to the Nigerian government, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern regarding the recently announced Student Venture Capital Grant (S‑VCG) initiative. While the intention to support innovation is commendable, the scale of funding raises serious questions about its impact on the millions of Nigerian youths and graduates who continue to face unemployment, underemployment, and economic hardship.

A single grant of ₦50 million, when compared to the realities of over 240 million Nigerians, highlights a troubling gap between policy announcements and the lived experiences of citizens. This amount, if hypothetically shared across the population, would amount to only a few kobo per person. Although the grant is not meant to be distributed this way, the comparison underscores a broader issue: the scale of government investment in youth development remains far below what is required to address the challenges facing the nation.

240 million Nigerians are frustrated by the persistent reports of mismanagement of public funds, extravagant spending by public officials, and the lack of transparency in government programs. 240 million expect leadership that prioritizes accountability, responsible use of tax revenue, and meaningful investment in the future of the country.

Respectfully Nigeria’s youths deserve more than symbolic gestures. They deserve robust, well‑funded programs that can genuinely create opportunities, support innovation, and build a sustainable economy. I urge the government to expand its commitment, increase funding for youth‑focused initiatives, and ensure transparency in the administration of all public programs.

Respectfully Nigerian government can do better, and Nigerians expect better.
