🚨 Per sources, Chelsea want to sign up to three ready-made players while selling those they consider surplus, with Alonso to be at the heart of it all.
It was Chelsea’s idea to have Alonso be their ‘manager’ rather than ‘head coach’. He is the first boss under BlueCo to receive that title, intended as a way to underline to Alonso how valued he is and reassure him of the say he will have in club calls.
Xabi Alonso is said to have been perfectly happy of a collaborative approach alongside his hierarchy, as is the modern way. The inside belief is that they have a talented core with which they can get to work, and that they are not a million miles from competing for major honours.
