Respectfully based on all available reporting, Falana is correct and Trump’s claim is false.
The Nigerian military had already officially declared the ISIS/ISWAP commander Abu‑Bilal al‑Minuki dead in 2024, two years before Trump and Tinubu announced a “fresh killing” in 2026.

What the evidence shows
Falana’s position
Falana states that:

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters publicly announced in April 2024 that Abu‑Bilal al‑Minuki (aka Abu Mainok) had been killed on February 21, 2024 during military operations.

Therefore, Trump’s 2026 announcement of a new killing is misleading and factually incorrect.

Tinubu should rely on Nigeria’s own military intelligence, not foreign claims.

Trump’s claim
Trump announced on Truth Social that:

U.S. and Nigerian forces conducted a joint overnight operation in 2026.

They “eliminated” Abu‑Bilal al‑Minuki, calling him “the most active terrorist in the world.”

Tinubu’s confirmation
Tinubu echoed Trump’s statement, praising the joint operation and confirming the supposed 2026 killing.

But the Nigerian military record contradicts both Trump and Tinubu
Defence Headquarters listed Minuki among terrorists neutralized in early 2024.

His death was publicly reported in Nigerian media at the time.

So who is lying?
If we go strictly by documented evidence:

Falana’s claim aligns with official Nigerian military records.

Trump’s claim contradicts those records.

Tinubu repeated Trump’s claim, making his statement factually incorrect as well.

Therefore, Falana is telling the truth, and Trump’s claim is false according to all verified sources.
