The trailer for the highly anticipated "Ghost in the Shell" 2026 #anime by studio Science SARU is out.

Rather than serving another alternate retelling of the story, the series will be a direct, faithful adaptation of Masamune Shirow's original 1989 manga, aiming to bring his definitive cyberpunk tale and art style to the screen.

Set in a near-future with an hyper-connected world, the series follows Major Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cybernetic operative. As the leader of Public Security Section 9, she and her elite task force combat complex cyber-terrorism, political corruption, and dangerous hackers, most notably the enigmatic "Puppet Master".

The series dives into deep, philosophical questions regarding human identity, consciousness, and what it means to be alive in an era where the line between organic humanity and artificial technology is blurred.

Out July 17.
