Tinubu’s Appointment of a Homeland Security Adviser Wrong, An Admission of Failure – Otubanjo
We shouldn’t be looking for a Homeland Security Adviser; we should be looking for a Homeland Security Bureau or Directorate. An Adviser is a member of the president’s personal staff. It’s a coordinating office, not an administrative one.
The misappropriation of authority in the presidency has allowed the National Security Adviser to operate as if he’s the head of all security organisations in Nigeria, which is not the case. Appointing Nuhu Ribadu as NSA to oversee military generals was a basic error. That disconnect has contributed to this administration’s failure in the fight against insecurity.
