Nigeria can fund drones — but the money depends on where the government chooses to allocate resources, and drones are expensive.

Where would the money for drones come from?
Nigeria has three main sources for funding military drones:

Federal Government Budget (Defence Allocation)
Every year, the National Assembly approves a defence budget.
In 2024, defence got ₦3.25 trillion, one of the largest allocations.
From this, funds can be used for:

Drone purchases

Drone maintenance

Training operators

Intelligence systems

Special Security Funds
Nigeria also has:

The National Security Adviser (ONSA) budget

The Police Trust Fund

The Counter‑Terrorism Fund
These can be used for drone surveillance and anti‑terror operations.

Foreign Partnerships & Donations
Nigeria has previously received:

U.S. surveillance drones

Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones

Chinese CH‑3 and CH‑4 drones
These come through:

Military cooperation

Counter‑terrorism partnerships
