Big picture: why rich Nigeria feels poor
For about 30+ years, Nigeria has had money without management, resources without vision, and borrowing without discipline. Oil wealth came, but institutions stayed weak—so the money leaked instead of building jobs, power, and industries.

Oil wealth became a curse, not a foundation
Overdependence on oil:
When oil money started flowing, government focused on crude exports instead of building manufacturing, agriculture, and technology.

Few sectors, few real jobs, and the economy rises and falls with oil prices.

Volatile revenue:
When oil prices crash, government revenue collapses—but salaries, subsidies, and debts remain.
So instead of long-term planning, leaders do short-term survival spending handouts of rice/beans this must change and stop now 5/12/2026
