Could the investments benefit Africa?
Yes — if African governments enforce sovereignty and transparency.
The summit emphasized that partnerships must be win‑win and not exploitative, and African leaders demanded equality.
Some potential benefits:
Energy projects could reduce power shortages.
AI and tech investments could create jobs.
Agriculture funding could improve food security.
But these benefits depend entirely on African control, not French intentions.
❌ Could this be another lie and slavery?
Not literal slavery — but economic dependency is a real risk.
History shows:
The CFA franc system kept 14 African countries tied to French monetary policy.
French corporations have extracted wealth while leaving environmental destruction.
France has often supported African elites who protect French interests.
So the fear is not irrational — it is based on decades of documented behavior.
The real answer these investments will not automatically uplift all 54 African countries.
They will help only where African nations:
negotiate fair terms,
enforce environmental and labor protections,
avoid dependency,
and ensure transparency.
Otherwise, the pattern of exploitation can continue under a new label.
