Your Excellency Governor Ododo, 240 million Nigerian youths are graduates are writing in response to your recent charge to Corps Members on discipline, unity, and self‑reliance. We appreciate the intention behind your message, but we also feel compelled to express the concerns and frustrations shared by many Nigerian youths and graduates.

It is difficult to demand discipline from young Nigerians when they see political leaders and public officials engaging in corruption, mismanagement of resources, and internal conflicts over money and power. When those in authority are not held accountable, it becomes challenging to convince 240 million of youths in Nigeria that discipline and integrity will lead to meaningful opportunities.

Across the 36 states and 774 local government areas,240 millions of youths and graduates remain unemployed despite the country’s vast resources. Many believe that the NYSC scheme no longer addresses the realities of today’s Nigeria and should be replaced with real job creation efforts. Online applications, repeated interviews, and bureaucratic processes often lead nowhere, wasting valuable time and energy.

Young Nigerians want to contribute to the nation’s development, but they need a system that works. A system where employment is based on merit and national identification, not connections. A system where leaders demonstrate the discipline they expect from Nigerians. A system that addresses insecurity at its roots, including the long‑standing issues that have fueled boko haram.

We urge your administration and all levels of government to prioritize genuine job creation, transparency, and accountability. Nigeria’s youth are ready to work, innovate, and build, but they need leadership that matches their commitment.
